WEINGUT ZIEREISEN, BLAUER SPÄTBURGUNDER (PINOT NOIR) | 2017 {SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE PINOTS COME FROM GERMANY}

Hanspeter Ziereisen farms organically and ferments spontaneously. His Pinot Noirs are strikingly mineral-laden, floral and meaty (just like in... don't mention it) and can rest in barrique for up to 20 months. Oh, and his winery is a former bomb shelter in Baden.

BOSCHKLOOF, STELLENBOSCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON-MERLOT | 2020 {SOUTH AFRICA IS THE MOST EXCITING WINE REGION IN THE WORLD TODAY}

Boschkloof was established in 1995 on the rolling hills of Stellenbosch, set against the dramatic mountain backdrop this part of South Africa is famed for. The estate is named after the natural ravine (“kloof”) on the property and features soils of mostly decomposed granite (washed down from those mountains) and koffieklip (“coffeestone”, an iron-rich conglomerate). Made from hand harvested cabernet sauvignon and merlot.

MASSIMAGO 'MARCHESA MARIA BELLA' VALPOLICELLA RIPASSO | 2019 {THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY WE CELEBRATE FEMALE WINE MAKERS}

Made from organic Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella grapes, crunchy red cherry flavors supported by white pepper and aromatic herbs. Medium to light bodied, Massimago is derived from the Latin “Maximum Agium” which means the maximum level of well-being. The estate, in the Mezzane Valley in Valpolicella, has been owned by the Cracco family since 1883. In 2003 winemaker Camilla Rossi Chauvenet became the guardian and creator of Massimago. She took over her mother’s vineyards and property and started a winery from scratch.

QUINTA DAS MAIAS, VINHO TINTO DAO I 2015 {Portugal is the New European Frontier for Superb Values }

This red is from an organic estate in the foothills of Portugal's Serra da Estrela mountain range. That terroir - the high altitude and sandy granite soil - contributes to the graphite nose and rich cherry flavours. The Dão DOC is one of the country's oldest and most famous wine regions, dating back to Roman times. Grapes are grown in very granitic soil. Many vineyards are planted on south facing slopes to take full advantage of the sun.
